Shenyang Cell Center Successfully Passes AABB Re-Accreditation Review

Recently, Shenyang Cell Center has successfully passed the latest re-accreditation review conducted by the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB).

 

The review, conducted on August 28-29, 2025, marked the company’s third AABB audit. Over a two-day on-site assessment, a three-member expert panel from the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s quality framework, operational procedures, technical systems, and documentation. The audit covered more than 200 standards and 805 supporting documents. Following this rigorous review, Shenyang Cell Center successfully passed the assessment once again.

 

 

As a globally recognized authority in blood services, cell therapy, and biotherapies, AABB is widely regarded for its rigorous and internationally respected standards. Its accreditation system is updated every two years and requires ongoing re-evaluation, ensuring that accredited institutions maintain a consistently high level of performance in quality, safety, compliance, and operational management. Successfully passing this re-accreditation review reflects Shenyang Cell Center’s sustained alignment with internationally recognized best practices and its long-term commitment to excellence.

 

During the review, the expert panel spoke highly of Shenyang Cell Center’s site management, quality documentation, manufacturing process control, and technical team professionalism, recognizing the company’s disciplined execution and mature quality systems.

 

 

Since its founding in 2016, Shenyang Cell Center has aligned itself with the highest international standards. In accordance with China’s regulatory requirements for cell preparation issued by the National Medical Products Administration and the National Health Commission, and with reference to standards set by the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT) and AABB, the company has built a comprehensive quality management system spanning facility design, cell processing, process control, and end-to-end quality assurance. Through continuous investment in online and in-person training, it has also established a technical R&D team with strong technical expertise, innovation capability, and an international perspective.

 

 

 

 

In 2019, Shenyang Cell Center officially became an AABB member. In November 2021, its technologies for the processing and storage of cord blood hematopoietic stem cells and adult stem cells received AABB accreditation. This milestone made the company the fifth institution in China and the first in Northeast China to obtain dual full-process AABB accreditation. Passing the latest re-accreditation review further consolidates the company’s position as a key cell technology platform in the region.

More importantly, It also provides enhanced assurance for the quality and safety of downstream clinical applications. In addition to AABB accreditation, Shenyang Cell Center has also obtained CSMQ certification for source materials, strengthening its upstream service capabilities and enabling the company to provide high-quality seed cell materials and related services to biopharmaceutical enterprises, hospitals, and research institutions in China and abroad.

 

 

As part of its full-industry-chain development strategy of 'One bank and Three Centers,' Shenyang Cell Center has established an integrated regional platform comprising a cell resource bank, cell processing center, cell R&D center, and commercialization center of cell therapy technology and product. The company currently offers more than a dozen cell storage services, provides technical support to over 30 research institutes and hospitals across the three northeastern provinces, and has collaborated with more than 10 hospitals on the clinical research and application of cell therapies in areas including cancer, infertility, and chronic wound repair.
